Our local Food pantries are running out of food.
The hunger epidemic in District 7490 has reached scary proportions. It’s the worse they’ve ever seen it and they need help NOW!!!

Governor Bonnie asked me to reach out to all the clubs to help with the Hunger Initiative.
This morning our Paterson AM Rotary Club was at St Paul’s Food Pantry in Paterson. They reported that their numbers have skyrocketed from 2600 families/individuals per month to 3400 and rising. This is happening all over.
All of the pantries need help.
Please reach out to a pantry near you or a pantry that your club has adopted; find out what they need and help as much as you can.
Three final points:
1.Please publicize this information because many people don’t realize the seriousness and the extent of the hunger issue and would help if they were aware and/or they were asked.
2. Please bring non perishable items (check the expiration dates) to the District Staff Meeting (August 6, 2012) and to the District Picnic on August 12th or start a food drive in your own club.
We can and need to have an impact not just on the military families we are already helping, but also on all the people in our area who need assistance now.
Thank you,
Dan Shiver, Hunger Initiative Chair, Rotary District 7490

P.S. Hungry people look like us.
