The Bayonne Rotary Club partnered with Rotary International District 7490 and West Point to host a one-day Character and Integrity Building Conference for local high school students - often referred to as the Leadership Conference. It featured the impressive West Point Academy honor cadets, a special and inspirational keynote address, networking, and break-out sessions facilitated by the West Pointers.

Students and select faculty spent the day, with Rotarians and West Point Cadets who have been trained to facilitate discussions around leadership, integrity, character, ethics and values. Students nominated themselves to give summations at the end of the day, and were encouraged to share what they learned and discusses with the rest of their schools. The students were then invited to Rotary breakfast to share their experiences.

The Bayonne HS students felt the conference was excellent. They discussed what they do, why they do it and the effect of their actions. Topics were respect, ethics, integrity and leadership. Mr. Yurchak and Mrs. Temchin are already using the information they gained at the conference with the Peer Leadership group at Bayonne High School. Mr. Yurchak has agreed to be the advisor of a Rotary Interact Club at Bayonne High School for the next school year. The students were excited by their experience.
