PROGRAM: Our guest speaker today was Laura Ricca Special Events Coordinator New Jersey Alzheimer's Association. Her topic today was The Walk For Alzheimer's on October 5th, 2019 at Liberty Sate Park Jersey City. To be a sponsor for this event will be $250.00 donation, you can also make a group donation or an individual donation. They are also looking for volunteers for these events, Assistance is provided for New Jersey residents only battling this disease. The organization has disbursed $600,000.00 to families in need. They also offer a scholarship of $1000.00 to the full time live in caregivers. They offer support to the family, friends and caregivers. They offer a telephone hotline, family support groups and education programs with First Respondrs and Family Members. When asked where do they get the most donation to keep these programs going she advised that the walks are the primary source of the donation, that is why they will hold 5 Walks. Laura also mentioned that if interested they will need volunteers for the Spring Gala that will be held at The Grove in Cedar Grove in May 2020 exact date TBA. We thanked Laura for visiting the group today and providing us with material that we can forward along to assist with the organization.
FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK:
1. We had the Tee Shirts available at the meeting today. The cost is $10 per person. Today at the meeting we sold 7 shirts. It is encouraged that these shirts be worn at events that we attend,
2. On June 20, 2020 we will have our 100th Anniversary Celebration at the Chandelier. Dr. Patsy McGeehan is Chairperson and Cindi is Co-Chair. We will need help on various committees. I encourage every member to be on the committee where their skills will be best put to use. Further details in September.
3. Today we installed Donna Trimblett not only as a member but also as Maureen's replacement for the Executive Secretary position.
