Cindy Guarini-President brought the meeting to order at 7:40 AM. Cindy started by acknowledging October Birthdays, Janice Hall 10/12, Dawn Herring 10/9, Donna Trimblett 10/18 and Olivia Ahumada. Spouses Birthdays, Sandy Banks-Wife of Chester Banks. Wedding Anniversary Carol and John Trojan October 25, 2024 54 Years. Club Anniversaries Steve Stamos 10/6-17 years, Rev. Patterson 10/12-14 Years and Melissa Rada 10/27-9 years.
There was supposed to be a guest speaker Shawn Kelly from 201Sports but he was unable to attend. The following was discussed:
Carl finished writing the District Grant and submitted it
Geomara Martinez will be the new Interact Advisor. Melissa Rada is working with her to familiarize her with the program
Geomara had her first meeting and 60 students attended and 35 of them joined.
The Interact Students will march in The Italian Heritage Parade on October 20, 2024
Cindy would like to include the Interact student more with Rotary and not just for volunteering.
October 19, 2024 is the Bergenpoint Fall Festival Jackie Farber asked that Rotary volunteer to work the game trailer.
October 21, 2024- Dine around at San Vito's. Portion of the proceeds will go to Joe Barbero's Culinary Class
Next Culinary Class will be October 16, 2024 5:00 PM at Villa Maria
We will be doing another book drive for CASA Cindy will send out the list of books needed. Also, Little BoHo Book Shop will give 10% if you purchase the books for this at her shop.
Christmas Luncheon will be December 10, 2024. Washington School Kindergarten class has been chosen. There will be approx. 68 students. Cindy suggested that maybe we change the location this year to Villa Maria, all were in agreement.
December 1, 2024 will be Gary LaPelusa's tree lighting
December 7, 2024 is BergenPoint's tree lighting, there will be a pre-party given by the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce.
There will be an afterparty at Buttero's DJ Mumbles has volunteered his services. Admission will be hat, scarf and gloves. This will kick off the Hat, Scarf and Glove drive for CASA. Rotary will be donating the food.
We have hired an accountant , he will need to file more than just a 990 postcard this year due to the amount of donations we received.
Cindi Sisk-Galvin has set up a new raffle account. The only money deposited into this account will be raffle money made from raffles that we have gotten raffle license for.
District News
Our District will be merging with 2 other districts in NJ. There will be 3 districts in one. This will happen in July 2026 Cindy Randina will be the last District Governor in District 7490.
