GUESTS SPEAKER: Our guest speaker today was City Council President Sharon Nadrowski. Mrs. Nadrowski informed us that Bayonne is changing and on the rise. The Base is moving forward with COSTCO and the Ferry coming plus 2 housing developments with a restaurant on the ground floor. There are big developments around town... as a matter of fact there is a waiting list for Silk Lofts. She stated that with these "Pilots" the city gets 2 to 3 times more money into our treasury which helps to bring the deficit down. Fours years ago the deficit was $24M, today it is $16M and in about three years it will be down to $8M. Parking issues are being addressed...looking to build multi-tier parking on 26th Street behind First Savings or by the Post Office. New Senior Citizen Housing is going up on Oak Street...all 1 bedroom apartments. The "Pilot" for the affordable housing on 11th Street and Avenue E is ending. We are working with them to keep it as affordable housing. Since the city tax rate is based on the School Board Budget, there needs to be a relationship with the City. We are working with the Board and asking also to consolidate schools and build bigger schools using grant money. Mrs. Nadrowski also informed us that the Port Authority has paid to redo Collins Park to Gorman Field... she encouraged all to check it out. A new mini golf course will be constructed down 16th Street Park. The Food Truck Festival was a huge success and there will be another one. There are many "Heritage Events" throughout the city this year. She further stated that we have a great Recreation Department under Pete Amadeo. She closed stating that Bayonne has alot to offer! We thank Council President Nadrowski for joining us this morning and for this uplifting look at our fine City.

Nancy Reymer, Marist High School Interact Advisor, lost everything in the Mama Rosa fire several weeks ago. Anyone looking to make a personal donation can send a check to her at Marist High School, 1241 Kennedy Boulevard, Bayonne. There also a charity softball game this Sunday down 16th Street Park at 11 a.m. which will benefit all fire victims.
