PROGRAM: Our guest speaker today was Dr. Joseph Ryan from the City of Bayonne.  His topic today was Census 2020.  The last Census was conducted in 2010.  Preparations for the Census has begun in Bayonne.  The City is working closely with the County providing addresses  in Bayonne.  The County has accepted 89% of those submitted. Dr. Ryan expressed the importance of everyone cooperating with the Census because federal grants are based on the number of residents in Bayonne.  This year the city received $1.4 million in grants.  It is very important to make people aware of the Census and why they must respond.  Residents can respond to Census 2020 via Internet, Mail or Telephone.   Cindi Sisk Galvin is a business representative while Rev. Patterson is working with the houses of worship to get the word out.  Dr. Ryan stated that our club is the first to request information on the Census 2020.  He urges all to spread the word of its importance.  Dr. Ryan thanked us for getting the ball rolling on Census 2020.  We thank Dr. Ryan for joining us this morning and sharing this infor- mation with us.

FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK:

 

1.   We will have the Tee Shirts at the next meeting.  The cost is $10 per person.  We should wear these to all events.

2.  Rapha Wellness has invited us to have a table at their event on 8/31. Because of short notice we will not be participating in this event.

3.  On June 20, 2020 we will have our 100th Anniversary Celebration at the Chandelier.  Dr. Patsy McGeehan is Chairperson and Cindi is Co-Chair.  We will need help on various committees.  I encourage every member to be on the committee where their skills will be best put to use.  Further details in September.

4.  Today is Maureen's last day.  She is moving out of Bayonne.  We need someone to replace her, preferably a Rotarian.  We will split up her responsibilities.  Michael will have all of the technology related responsibilities while someone is needed to tend to the meetings and getting the newsletter and important information to all members.
