Guest Speaker:  Michelle Mount
Michelle Mount was the guest speaker today at our meeting.  Michelle is the Development & Communications Officer for Peace Care St. Ann's and St Joseph's nursing home. She spoke about the first hand challenges when the pandemic hit. The nursing home went on a complete shutdown and therefore cutting all personal contact with the families and residents.  Their quick response was to obtain IPADS so the residents had some way of communication.  As the pandemic got worse not only were they not able to see family now they were quartinined in their rooms. The residents were falling into depression.  Michelle stated that they needed to do something so they started purchasing Robotic Pets.  These pets acted like companions to the residents.  the cats purred like real cats as did the dogs bark.  They started seeing changes in the residents.  They acquired several pets for the residents  with their goal to have a pet for each resident.  The Rotary Club donated a cat and dog.
