Meeting opened at 7:45 AM
Morning meetings will continue on the 2nd Tuesday at 7:30 AM, evening meetings will be the 4th Thursday at various restaurants including the Chandelier
Setup for all meetings will be a meeting first followed by fellowship, there will be a speaker at each meeting based on availability
Speakers already scheduled for September evening and both October meetings. President Cindy is working on the speakers for November including our District Governor.
Will have the president of Secaucus Rotary to come to a meeting to discuss ways to increase membership. Will receive marketing materials from district for membership to be posted on our Social Media
Christmas Breakfast:
12/5/2023 at The Chandelier- Lincoln School children will be present, we are going to invite Keith Makowski former principal of Lincoln School. Silvana made a suggestion that since he is now principal of BHS we speak to him for feedback on getting more students involved in our projects.
Dr. Seuss:
We will be going to Midtown community School this year. Sandra Dear of The Little boho Book Store will provide books again at a 10% discount. Dr. Seuss Day is 3/2/2024 suggested dates for readings are 2/23/2024 or 3/1/2024.
Honorary Luncheon:
Fundraising event to be held in March 2023 at Villa Maria honoring our Past Presidents.
Easter Basket Giveaway:
We are going to choose the organization we will work with and who will receive the baskets. Some items have already been purchased.
Citizenship Breakfast:
Scheduled for 6/4/2024 with RYLA and Interact students present. Idea was presented to give the scholarship winner a big cardboard check.
Installation Dinner:
Scheduled for 6/25/2024
Book Drive:
Working in partnership with CASA. Books must be new and deadline will be December 2023.
Diaper Drive:
The drive was not very successful this year. Will partner with CASA on this drive and they will support us with delivery for future drives.
Bergen Point Festival:
Scheduled for 10/21/2023, Rotary will set up a table with "Decorate a Pumpkin" activity.
Dining for Mental Health:
A dinner event featuring Mental Health professionals in relation to the district's initiative on Mental Health. Our chairperson for this Mental Health Initiative will be Dr. Noah DeKoyer. As part if this initiative and a special "President's Project", Cindy suggested we gift an emotional Dog.
Rotary International Project will continue to include monetary donation to Water Wells with Nicole Sexton and BHS students. We want to include the Interact students in the local projects as well. These Local Projects include working with Seniors and Sponsorships such as the ice cream truck for Buddy Baseball either opening day or at one of the season games. A larger banner will be put in place for Rotary representation. Additional suggestions included sponsoring a family for Christmas from giving a tree to purchasing gifts.
Pete Amadeo would like Rotary Club to be represented in the upcoming holiday parades, specifically St. Patrick's Day and Memorial Day as a great way for Rotary to be seen more in the community.
